This has been kind of hard to do since our lives have seem to have taken on a pattern that has not allowed us to have much that we can report on......

We are both continuing to work at Liberty University and love it. Giving us the chance to see each other throughout the day has definately made things more enjoyable on a day-to-day basis, seeing that we can visit one another whenever we choose. I am particularly excited that in less than a month school will be out for the summer and the staff can enjoy a few months without students which means less chaos and more convenient parking (LU staff members rejoice!). Beginning in May I will be starting Seminary and began working on my Masters in Christian Leadership, which should take about 2 years to complete. While I am excited to obtain my degree, I am still weary about the requirements that going back to school will entail. Right now, Kati and I have a very busy schedule throughout the work week which will require some "tweaking" in order for everything to work out. One aspect of our week that we have enjoyed greatly has been Thursday nights with our friends. Each week we get together at a particular couple's house for food and fellowship. This has been a great opportunity for Kati and I to gain encouragement from other couples as it pertains to our marriage. This group has been a great blessing and we are both very thankful for the people that God has brought back in to our lives.

In our last post we mentioned that we were looking around for churchs around the area, still trying to decide where God wanted us to be. Since then we have become regular attendees of Brentwood Community Church in Lynchburg. We both love what the pastor brings every week and are often challenged in our faith. One particular ministry that Brentwood is involved in is Freedom 4/24, which focuses on gaining freedom for sexually exploited women in Thailand. This ministry operates 100% on donations and is working for a much-needed cause. Please take a moment to take a look at their website and strongly consider donating $24 to the organization. You also get a really cool t-shirt!

Lastly, Kati and I have been taking some time to plan out our summer, fall and holiday schedule. We are trying to do everything we can to see family, friends and have time for ourselves. Below is a TENATIVE schedule of our plans for the remainder of the year. Feedback is encouraged!
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

May 31st - 1 Year Anniverary @ Wintergreen Resort

Sometime in the Summer - Vacation (Open to suggestions!)

Sept. 12th - UCLA vs. Tennessee @ Knoxville, TN (anyone know a good place to stay?)

Nov. 1 - Broncos vs. Ravens @ Baltimore

OR

Nov. 15 - Broncos vs. Redskins @ Washington D.C

Thanksgiving - Our apartment (Open to Family and Friends) RSVPs needed ASAP!

Christmas (Dec. 18 - Dec 27) - SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA

God Bless,

Scott @ Kati

Adventures in Lynchburg Part I

Greetings from Virginia!

After several months of waiting, praying and planning Kati and I have finally made it to Virginia and have begun to get settled in our new home. We quickly felt that we were finally where God wanted us shortly after arriving.

January was rough on us as I was in Virginia beginning my new job as Budget Analyst at Liberty University, while Kati was still in Texas, finishing up her job. Not having an apartment for the first few weeks, my good friend Allyn put my up in his apartment until we were able to sign a lease. Weeks seemed to creep by while we were apart, but before we knew it she was in Lynchburg just in time to see our new apartment and join our friends for their Super Bowl party.

Having lived here before, it was easy for us to get acclimated to everything around the city. Friends that we had known for years were still around and it seemed like almost nothing had changed, with the big exception of the school which has drastically grown since we left. They are even putting in a ski slope on campus which should be ready by the middle of this summer. Alumni everywhere are rolling their eyes……

In just a short time we have begun to search for a new church in the area that we both like. When we first moved back to Lynchburg, we agreed to attend the church attached to our school, Thomas Road Baptist Church, but have decided to search for something new. Currently, we seem to be happy with Brentwood Community Church, as it offers preaching, worship and community that we both seem to appreciate.

Last weekend, we were finally able to unpack our last box and have settled down in our new apartment in Wyndhurst, a new part of town with several shops, restaurants and points of interest. It is a very beautiful part of town that offers several types of scenery and activities that were lacking in Texas (grass, mountains, natural lakes, trees, trails, and elevation).

Finally, we are also very happy to announce that Kati has a new job! Starting in March she will be in the new Data Analyst in the Residential Recruitment area at Liberty University. This is one of the biggest blessings that we could hope for! Not only has God provided us 2 jobs in the last 3 months during a rough economy, he has allowed us to work closely with each other that will allow us to be together at work as well as keep similar hours. We are now a family of Analysts!

We hope to keep this blog updated on a regular basis, so please stop by on occasion if you would like to catch up with what is going on in our lives. Having friends and family in California, Texas, Colorado and Virginia we hope that our blog can help in staying in touch with all of you.

God Bless!
